Guidelines and examples for
using official VirVox illustrations

The official illustrations officially distributed by the Project may be used freely for non-profit and free use.

However, in consideration of the fact that the VirVox Project has now distributed official standing illustrations, we would like to post a few exceptions and specific examples.

Please note that these examples do not apply to unofficial illustrations created by individuals, in which case please refer to the "VirVox Project Guidelines for

Assumption
  1. The official illustrations that will be made available for use are limited to "those explicitly distributed by VirVox".

  2. Please use them in compliance with the VirVox Project Guidelines for
    Secondary Productions.

When permission is not required

  1. When an individual uses an official illustration in the production of a video, etc., uploads it to a video sharing site, etc., and earns income through advertising, subscriptions, throwaways, etc.

  2. Individuals post official illustrations on blogs, websites, etc.

  3. When an individuals or unincorporated entities requests a third party to create an illustration and presents the official illustration as a reference material.

  4. When an individuals uses an official illustration to introduce a work (video, anime, etc.) that is distributed at an event for a fee.

  5. When making a very small number of goods for personal use or viewing. (Commissioning a third party or creating a large quantity of goods and then transferring them to a third party is not permitted.)

  6. Distribution of setting files (without illustrations materials) that are necessary for incorporating official illustrations into other software.

When permission is required

  1. Use of the official illustration by a legal entity in any media that directly or indirectly generates revenue for content or products not related to the VirVox Project.
    (Examples of exceptions: publishing online news articles about VirVox)

  2. When an individual who has signed a contract with a legal entity uses an official illustration for any purpose beyond the scope of non-profit-making as defined in VirVox's guidelines for derivative works (such as sponsorship or promotion requested by a third party other than the entity that has signed the contract with VirVox).
    (Examples of exceptions: When a streamer affiliated with a company uses an illustration in a video or distribution that is not part of the project.)

  3. When you distribute or sell works using official illustrations for a fee, regardless of whether you are an individual or a corporation.

  4. When a corporation or school uses an official illustration for educational purposes.

Prohibitions
  1. Creating an illustration by tracing part or all of an official image.

  2. Uploading paid standing illustration materials in transparent format (e.g., png) or psd for downloading by third parties without using them in the production of videos, cartoons, or other works.

  3. Violating the "VirVox Project Guidelines for Secondary Productions".

  4. Using official images to generate new models, etc. by machine learning, transition learning, fine tuning, etc.
